THE BRONX, N.Y. — The Bronx community is reeling in grief and disbelief after a horrifying tragedy that claimed four lives in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide inside a Lacombe Avenue apartment. Among the victims was 26-year-old Kianna Leé, whose radiant spirit and kind heart touched everyone around her.
Authorities say officers from the NYPD’s 43rd Precinct responded to a call for a wellness check at a multi-story apartment building on Lacombe Avenue early Tuesday morning. When officers entered the unit, they discovered four individuals — two men and two women — all with fatal gunshot wounds. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Investigators believe one of the deceased, an adult male, may have shot the others before turning the gun on himself. Police have not yet publicly released the names of the other victims pending notification of family members, but loved ones have identified one of them as Kianna Leé, describing her as “a beautiful soul gone far too soon.”
“This is something no community should ever have to endure,” said Deputy Chief Joseph Kenny during a press briefing. “Our hearts go out to the families who are facing unimaginable loss right now.”
Neighbors said they were shocked by the news, describing the building as normally quiet and family-oriented. Some reported hearing loud noises late the previous night, followed by silence. “I heard what sounded like fireworks, but I never imagined it was something like this,” said a resident who asked not to be identified.
Friends of Kianna Leé have taken to social media to express their heartbreak and honor her memory. Many described her as full of life, ambitious, and always willing to lend a helping hand. “Kianna was sunshine in human form,” one friend wrote. “She was the glue that held people together. To think she’s gone in such a violent way just breaks all of our hearts.”
Leé’s family, devastated by the tragedy, released a brief statement asking for privacy as they process their grief. “Kianna was our joy, our strength, and our hope. We are shattered by this loss,” the statement read.
As the investigation continues, detectives are working to determine what may have led to the violence. Sources say preliminary evidence suggests the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, but police have not yet confirmed details.
Counselors and victim advocates have been made available to residents in the building, many of whom are struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. The city’s Office to Prevent Gun Violence also announced plans to hold a community meeting to support those affected and raise awareness about domestic violence prevention.
A candlelight vigil for the victims is being organized for later this week at Soundview Park, where friends and family are expected to gather to remember their lives and call for peace.
“This is a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life is,” said Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson in a statement. “Four lives were lost, and a community is left in mourning. We must continue to fight for safer homes, stronger mental health support, and an end to the violence that steals our loved ones.”
The investigation remains active as police work to confirm the identities of all four victims and piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
