DeLand Community Mourns Loss of Padmini and Scott Waldron Found Dead in Their Cape Cod Road Home

DELAND, Fla. โ€” A wave of grief has swept through the DeLand community following the heartbreaking deaths of Padmini Waldron, 47, and Scott Waldron, 49, who were found deceased inside their home on Cape Cod Road on Saturday morning.

According to the Volusia County Sheriffโ€™s Office, deputies were dispatched to the residence shortly before 8 a.m. after a concerned family member requested a welfare check. When deputies entered the home, they discovered the couple unresponsive. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the official cause of death but say preliminary evidence suggests the incident was domestic in nature. Investigators emphasized that there is no threat to the public and that all indications point to an isolated tragedy within the home.

โ€œThis is an incredibly sad and tragic situation,โ€ said Sheriff Mike Chitwood. โ€œOur hearts are with the family, friends, and community members mourning this devastating loss.โ€

Neighbors on Cape Cod Road described the Waldrons as a quiet and friendly couple who had lived in the area for several years. Many said they often saw the pair tending to their yard or walking their dog together. โ€œThey seemed like such good people,โ€ said neighbor Laura Benson. โ€œItโ€™s just heartbreaking. You never expect something like this to happen so close to home.โ€

Padmini, known affectionately as โ€œMiniโ€ to her friends and colleagues, worked in the healthcare field and was admired for her compassion and dedication to others. โ€œShe was one of the most caring people Iโ€™ve ever met,โ€ said a former coworker. โ€œAlways putting patients and coworkers first, always smiling no matter what.โ€

Scott Waldron, described by friends as hardworking and dependable, had spent much of his career in construction and home renovation. Those who knew him said he took pride in his work and was deeply devoted to his family.

The coupleโ€™s sudden passing has left family members devastated. In a statement shared by relatives, they wrote, โ€œPadmini and Scott were deeply loved and will be forever missed. We ask for privacy as we try to process this unimaginable loss.โ€

The Volusia County Medical Examinerโ€™s Office is conducting autopsies to determine the precise cause and manner of death. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence, review statements, and piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.

As word spread through DeLand, community members began placing flowers and candles near the coupleโ€™s home as a tribute to their memory. Local faith leaders are planning a vigil later this week to honor their lives and provide comfort to grieving neighbors.

โ€œThis loss touches all of us,โ€ said Reverend Thomas Cole of DeLand United Methodist Church. โ€œPadmini and Scott were part of this communityโ€™s heartbeat โ€” kind, generous, and full of life. Their memory will not fade.โ€

The investigation into the deaths of Padmini and Scott Waldron remains ongoing, but for many in DeLand, the focus now is on remembrance, healing, and supporting one another through the pain of such a profound tragedy.
