WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. — Authorities have identified the woman whose body was discovered earlier this week in the Bluegrass Fish and Wildlife Area, bringing clarity but also heartbreak to a case that has left two states shaken.
According to Indiana State Police, the victim has been identified as 35-year-old Kristina Robison of Henderson, Kentucky. Investigators say Robison’s death did not occur in Indiana; instead, evidence indicates she died in Henderson, and her body was later transported across the state line and left in the Bluegrass Fish and Wildlife Area in Warrick County.
The grim discovery was made by a passerby who contacted authorities after spotting what appeared to be human remains near a remote section of the wildlife area. Troopers and local law enforcement immediately secured the scene, and detectives began a joint investigation with the Henderson Police Department and the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office.
In a statement released Tuesday, Indiana State Police confirmed Robison’s identity after days of forensic testing and coordination with Kentucky authorities. “Through diligent investigative work, detectives were able to positively identify the victim as Ms. Kristina Robison,” said Sgt. Todd Ringle. “Our hearts go out to her family during this incredibly difficult time.”
Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of death, citing an ongoing investigation. However, they confirmed that foul play is suspected and that multiple law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads.
Authorities believe that Robison’s death occurred in Henderson, Kentucky, before her body was moved to Indiana in what investigators described as an intentional act to conceal the crime. “This case crosses jurisdictional lines, and we are working closely with our partners in Kentucky to determine who is responsible,” Ringle added.
Family members of Kristina Robison described her as a loving mother, daughter, and friend who was deeply cherished by those who knew her. Social media posts from loved ones express shock and grief, remembering her for her kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family.
“She was so full of life,” one friend wrote. “No one deserves what happened to her. We just want justice for Kristina.”
The Bluegrass Fish and Wildlife Area, located just outside Evansville, is a popular destination for fishing, hiking, and birdwatching. The discovery has deeply unsettled the local community, with many expressing sorrow that such a tragedy could unfold in a place usually known for its natural beauty and peaceful setting.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about Kristina Robison’s death or the movement of her body to contact the Indiana State Police or Henderson Police Department. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through local crime hotlines.
As the investigation continues, both Indiana and Kentucky law enforcement agencies have pledged to work together to bring justice to Kristina Robison and her family. “We won’t rest until we have answers,” said Sgt. Ringle. “Kristina deserves that, and so does her family.”
Funeral arrangements for Robison are expected to be announced once her family completes coordination with authorities. Meanwhile, the community continues to mourn — and to hope that whoever is responsible for this horrific act will soon be held accountable.
