In Loving Memory of Guillermo Olivera and Esther Olivera

In Loving Memory of Guillermo Olivera and Esther Olivera

Rosendale, New York

The Rosendale and Elizaville communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Guillermo Olivera, 84, and his beloved wife, Esther Olivera, 81, whose lives were tragically cut short in a devastating motor vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon. Their passing has left a deep void in the hearts of their family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing them.

On December 9, at approximately 1:52 p.m., New York State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on the northbound lanes of I-87, near mile marker 83 between Exits 18 and 19 in Rosendale. Esther, a passenger in the Nissan, received life-saving efforts at the scene, but despite the heroic attempts of first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Guillermo, who was driving, was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Guillermo and Esther were more than just husband and wife โ€” they were true life partners in every sense of the word. Together, they built a life anchored in love, faith, hard work, and devotion. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to loyalty and companionship, showing everyone around them what it meant to walk hand in hand through lifeโ€™s joys and challenges.

To their family, Guillermo was a pillar of strength โ€” a man of quiet wisdom whose words carried weight and whose actions spoke even louder. He was a protector, a guide, and a source of unwavering encouragement. Esther was the heart of the home โ€” gentle, compassionate, and endlessly caring. Her warmth could light up any room, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved.

Friends remember Guillermo for his integrity, humility, and steady presence. He was someone people could depend on, someone who showed up without being asked, and someone who gave without expecting anything in return. Esther was remembered for her soft-spoken nature, her nurturing spirit, and her natural ability to bring comfort through the simplest gestures โ€” a warm smile, a kind word, or a listening ear.

Together, they created a legacy rooted in love and family. Their home was a place of peace, laughter, and togetherness. Family gatherings were centered around their table, filled with stories, warmth, and the kind of joy that can only come from a lifetime spent loving deeply and selflessly.

As their community grieves, hearts are also filled with prayers for 21-year-old Amiah Desiah Lea Corp, who remains in critical condition following the crash. In the midst of loss, there is a shared hope for healing, mercy, and comfort for all affected by this tragic incident.

Though Guillermo and Esther are no longer physically with us, their love story does not end here. It lives on in the lives they touched, the memories they created, and the family they built. Their legacy will continue through generations โ€” in quiet moments of kindness, in acts of selfless love, and in the gentle strength they modeled every day of their lives.

May Guillermo and Esther Olivera rest in eternal peace, reunited once more, their journey continuing beyond this world. They will be forever missed, deeply loved, and endlessly remembered.

โ€œTogether in life, together in eternity.โ€
